Health & Safety

TR Fastenings is committed to ensuring the health, safety and welfare of all employees and subcontract activities. The Group assesses the risks to the Health and Safety of employees and others who may be affected, and identifies and acts upon the measures needed to comply with relevant legislation.

We provide and maintain the necessary resources covering people, plant, equipment, protective clothing and safe working practices. We also provide information, instruction, training and supervision in safe working practices, as well as detailing health and safety responsibilities within the organisation through key individuals, to ensure our policies are adhered to.
The Group has recently launched nonconformance and risk assessment action tracking systems to provide a focused approach, whilst at the same time increasing Health and Safety communication throughout the business.

RoHS Compliance

The preparation we undertook for the introduction of the RoHS 2 legislation, demonstrates how serious we are in our commitment to CSR.

The Restriction of Hazardous Substances Legislation came into force in 2005, and was revised in 2011 to become 2011/65/EU (commonly known as RoHS 2); this was transposed into law on 2nd January 2013. RoHS 2 restricts the use of 6 substances, namely:
  • Cadmium
  • Lead
  • Hexavalent Chromium
  • Mercury
  • Polybrominated biphenyls (PBB)
  • Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE)
We have assessed our product range, and determined our risk was related to the content of Hexavalent Chromium in various plating finishes. Separate Stock Keeping Units (SKU’s) for compliant products were created, and RoHS compliant products have been stocked since 2004.
In 2012 we set up our inhouse RoHS compliance testing facility, testing random samples from all of our suppliers once a year, to give our customers the confidence of meeting their own due diligence and due care requirements.
